Accomplishments first quarter 2006

»
Opened the new C.A.S.A. Research and Development Center and established a state of the art Computer Center.
»
Assisted over 315 customer declare their 2005 Income Tax Returns receiving over $422, 728 in total refunds.
»
Organized Advocacy Campaign to defend human rights for undocumented immigrant such as rallies, marches and forums. Our Executive Director went to Washington DC to promote a fair immigration reform with the Miami Dade Fair Immigration Delegation.
»
Extended Broward office schedule. Now, it is open Monday through Friday.
»
Extended Paralegal hours in our main office located at 8500 SW 8 Street.
»
Created a bilingual newsletter by internet to interact with our constituents and partner.
»
Reached and exceeded tutoring program goals.
»
Increased 100% achievements in the after school tutoring program.
»
Through an advanced voice recognition software C.A.S.A. is now able to provide the community with an Advanced English Class; and addition to its rapidly growing Education Department.

 

As of 2005, with over 40,000 Hispanic immigrant families served, C.A.S.A., has gained respect and credibility at the local, state, national and international level. These are a few of our accomplishments over the years:

Raised $10000 in 2003 to rebuild a school in Bojaca, Colombia blown up by insurgent groups.
»
Raised over $35,000 to benefit the victims of the 1998 earthquake in Armenia, Colombia.
»
Since 1999 C.A.S.A. has exhaustively led efforts to gain Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Colombians fleeing terrorism and violence in their country.
»
Since 1998 C.A.S.A. has been the principal organization of the Colombian Independence Day Festival attracting more then 35,000 spectators.
»
C.A.S.A. is regarded as a credible source of information on immigrants and Colombian issues by local, national and international media.
»
Assisted more than 6,000 eligible residents apply for their U.S. Citizenship.
»
Has participated in the Miami Prosperity Campaign for over 3 years.
»
Provided more than 6000 hours of legal counseling through a team of volunteer attorneys.
»
Created the Annual Simon Bolivar Leadership Scholarship with the Dade Community Foundation & the C.A.S.A. Leadership Scholarship at FIU.
»
Provided orientation to more then 1,500 professional immigrants on how to revalidate their degrees and practice in their respective field.
»
Educated thousands of families through ongoing seminars on immigration matters, health, abstinence based programs among others, acculturation and assimilation.
»
C.A.S.A., was the community innovator in providing services during "non-conventional" hours to serve our clients in the evenings and on weekends.
»
Through our Elderly Program we assist elderly residents apply for U.S. Citizenship with fee and language test waivers.

Received the Latin Builders Association Award as best non-profit organization in 2003

Finalist in the greater Miami Chamber of Commerce NOVO award for Non-profit Excellence.

Recognized in 2003 as an eligible non-profit organization to represent clients in front of the Board of Immigration of Appeals. This allows the organization to provide services to an even broader range of families in need.

In 2003,The magazine Semana named C.A.S.A. the leading Colombian organization serving Colombians in the United States.

C.A.S.A. has been featured in several hundred articles and is known internationally.
»
C.A.S.A., has become well known in South Florida for organizing its annual Housing and Foreign professional fairs that attract over 1000 visitors from all over the state of Florida and as far as Atlanta, Georgia.
