The Colombia Project is the first international project created by CASA to directly assist with the development process of Colombia. Mobilizing resources aimed at reducing malnutrition and illness, offering educational opportunities for children and single mothers, improving life-long prospects for disabled children, and providing adequate housing for poor and displaced families. This project focuses primarily in the Department of Antioquia.
CASA has developed several strategic partnerships in Colombia with national and international organizations as well as several government agencies. Together we will carryout the Colombia Project in two phases:
- Partner agencies refine and provide support for current outreach and educational programs maximizing the capacities of these programs.
- Provide adequate housing opportunities for the target population.
- Work with local government & Governor’s office to develop new educational programs on financial discipline, sexual education, human and civil rights, mentoring for troubled teens and women’s empowerment.
|
- Provide & distribute food, medicine, and medical equipment through our working partners.
- Provide capacity building & networking assistance to Colombian & other organizations in Colombia with resources in the country and the United States.

By Thanksgiving of 2004, with only 3 to 4 months of developing the project, C.A.S.A., successfully raised enough monies to build a home for a low-income widowed mother of 5, provided 50 scholarships for students from a displaced community to attend High School and installed a library in Bello, Colombia.
Below are some pictures of the events in Medellín. Representing C.A.S.A., in Colombia was David Castrillon, former coordinator of the Colombia project.
C.A.S.A., not only appreciates the community for their kindness and generosity in donating to the Colombia Project, but more importantly for taking an active role in the socio-economic development of Colombian communities assisted through this project.
