Miami, Florida (September 8, 2004) - C.A.S.A., Colombian American Service Association, a non-profit service organization created by the native Colombian Juan Zapata has served over 35,000 Hispanic families during its 10 year tenure of service to the community. As Founder and president of the Board of Directors, Representative Juan C. Zapata has distinguished himself not only as a strong, articulate and passionate community leader but also has successfully won re-election as the first Colombian-American to hold a seat in the Florida House of Representatives.
To honor Representative Zapata's efforts in assisting the Hispanic Community and his significant involvement in the Colombian Community, the Colombian Delegation of Representatives will present him with the highest honor given by the Colombian Government to a civilian. This will take place at the Colombian Consulate located at 280 Aragon Ave in Coral Gables at 5pm Friday, September 10th.
