
The Colombian Project begins with assisting needy families
in the Department of Antioquia , Colombia

Miami, Florida (September 8, 2004) - C.A.S.A., Colombian American Service Association, on behalf of the Colombian Community has chosen the International United Way in Colombia to donated the construction of a school library, the sponsorship of 50 children to attend school and Habitat for Humanity in Colombia to build a home for a single mother with four children who recently lost her husband as a result of their economic hardships. Juan Zapata, president of the Board of directors of C.A.S.A. established partnerships with these organizations to further C.A.S.A.'s mission in Colombia . The educational and housing initiative will take place in Bello , one of the surrounding municipalities of the city of Medellín .
A special dedication ceremony will be held on Friday, November 26, 2004 in Bello congratulating the family on their new home and celebrating Habitat for Humanity's 10 years of service in Colombia . Several local and departmental officials such as the Mayor of Bello and Medellín along with the secretary of Education and the Governor of the Department of Antioquia have been invited to join in the special dedication to the children and the family receiving their new home. David Castrillón from C.A.S.A. will be traveling to Colombia to represent the organization during this ceremony.
