
Miami, Fl - September 15, 2006 Colombian American Service Association (CASA) IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT IT HAS NAMED Rep. Juan Carlos Zapata AS CASA director emeritus in recognition of his ongoing and lasting contribution to CASA and immigrant rights.
Zapata, a member of the Florida House, founded CASA in 1994 with the vision to help ALL immigrants reach the American dream. In the 12 years since the organization's founding, CASA has served more than 45,000 clients of all nationalities AND HAS helped MORE THAN 8,000 PEOPLE obtain UNITED STATES CITIZENSHIP.
"Even with all the obligations that public office brings, Juan Carlos has not forgotten the plight of immigrants, introducing bills and keeping those issues in the minds of his peers," said Julio Jaramillo, CASA's board chairperson. "This title the board has given him is a reflection of how proud we are of his accomplishments and we look forward to continued work with him."
